This was such a fun hairstyle! We saw it in a FashionWeek magazine & Gayleigh made it happen! So fun seeing that crimper transform the models’ hair. The white ‘bridal’ outfit was borrowed from a wee shop in Edinburgh. Gayleigh saw it in the window and just walked straight in and asked to use it. I’m so glad she did because it was so cool looking. I think the outfit was designed by the shop owner’s daughter who is studying textile design. The outfit was made of a few different pieces of fabric so we had to fiddle quite a bit here and there to made it work but in the end it looked great. It was also quite sheer so before we started shooting Gayleigh ran off to buy a pair of wait knickers for the model to wear underneath. I keep saying ‘model’ because for the life of me I can’t remember this girls name right now…must ask Gayleigh. It’s great too because this ‘model’ (hehe) is actually the reception at the salon. Her hair was nice and long so we asked her to work with us and if you ask me she’s quite a natural. I think it’s her ballet background that means she can move her body so well. We were actually shooting inside the salon so people were walking by the shop and peering in through the big glass windows. I don’t blame them! Seeing a photo shoot is exciting :)

BEAUTY TREND: AUTUMN/WINTER 2011-12

Metal Heads

THERE was a metallic mood in Paris as far as beauty was concerned. Chanel’s boyish biker collection was given a touch of feminine rock-and-roll with shimmering silver eyes and liquid metal grey nails care of their in-house creative director of make-up, the inimitable Peter Philips. Later in the day, make-up artist Pat McGrath gave the eyes at Valentino a glimmering treatment by co-ordinating an iridescent blush on the eyes with the colour of the nude chiffon clothes. The true silver statement, however, was made at Alexander McQueen, where the girls were given metallic skull caps care of Guido Palau and his team who loaded up on the metal slides covering the entire head. Iron maidens, indeed.

Happy bank holiday everyone hope your all feeling dandy or possibly a wee bit hung over and squeezing every last bit of the holiday loveliness to it’s max.I’m getting very excited about weaving my way back into my hairdressing, after having a wee break from having my little girl Poppy who’s nearly 8 months old now.And what better way to get the creative juices flowing than to do a winter wedding photo shoot. The theme is alternative/Gothic wedding so as i was strolling over the net for some inspiration i came across the latest Mc Queen shoots….,not sure what do you think.

Alexander McQueen have just revealed their autumn/winter 2011 as campaign, which features model Raquel Zimmermann apparently combusting whilst wearing some show-stopping McQueen creations. Photographed by David Simms, the volcanic setting calls to mind apocolyptic scenes of prehistoric earth – the perfect backdrop for some out-of-this-world fashion.

Raquel’s simple and versatile look works perfectly for the campaign, putting all the attention on the amazing designs by creative director Sarah Burton. Model Zimmermann has certainly earned her fashion credentials this season, landing campaigns f
